InterAct's
BBC Radio 4 Appeal
We’re delighted to share that InterAct Stroke Support has been selected for an upcoming BBC Radio 4 Charity Appeal!
Tune in on Sunday 9th November at 7:54am and 9:25pm, and again on Thursday 13th November at 3:27pm, to hear our patron Gyles Brandreth present the appeal on our behalf.
Gyles will introduce listeners to Edward, a stroke survivor who received vital support through our actor-led reading sessions at St Pancras Hospital in London.
This is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of our work and the impact it has on stroke survivors across the country. We’d love for you to listen in and help us spread the word!
Our Radio 4 Appeal page on the BBC website will not be live until the week of our appeal. If you are here before the 9th November and you'd like to support us. You can:
A. Put us in your diary and donate between the 9th - 15th November via the BBC website.
B. Donate to us now, separately to the appeal. *Please note his means your donation won't be taken into account for our Radio Appeal total but it will count towards our JustGiving 25th Anniversary campaign.
Why do we need your help?
Stroke is a sudden and life-changing event. In the UK alone, around 100,000 people experience a stroke each year, with over 1.4 million survivors currently living with its effects.
Recovery is different for everyone, but many face ongoing challenges with speech, reading, memory, and concentration. These difficulties can impact not just communication, but also confidence and independence.

Our actor-led reading sessions on hospital wards, featuring short stories, biographies, and poems, are a lifeline for stroke survivors. They help to stimulate the brain, spark conversation, and support the early stages of recovery.
It costs just £40 to fund one of our reading sessions.
We want to continue delivering our reading sessions to stroke survivors across the UK, but we cannot do so without your support.
